It was a balmy day in October and the young boy was walking to school. He looked up and saw her..Melanie.He smiled grateful to see her.
"Hey Mel!"
The girl looked up at him,Mark raised his eyebrows.Melanie's face was white as a ghost and her eyes looked like a thousand bees had stung them.Mark grabbed her hand and brought her to the old oak tree and sat down.
"Mel whats wrong?"
Melanie looked up at him and whispered just barely audible."Mark I'm moving."
Mark dropped his books amazed. He got up and ran away, stumbling into the school doors. He tried to get through the day but he always found himself looking out the window thinking of his Mel,moving."How can this be?My Melanie..leaving?"He whispered. The days flew past and three months later things went wrong.

Mark hugged his books tight as he walked up Melanie's driveway. He looked sideways at her garden then to the other side where the big ample tree stood.Mark sighed as he remembered the tree fort Mel and him had made.He shook his head and walked up the stairs onto the white wrap around porch. His eyes skimmed over her ranch house.Same old house,French doors, double windows and light blue shutters.Mark hung his head sadly.Three months had passed since Mel had told him that she was moving.A new house owner would be moving into his girlfriends house in less than twenty-four hours. He knew where Mel was moving which was very far away. They were going to Kentucky, her mother said it'd be great for Melanie. It'd been her dream to go to the Kentucky Derby since she was a little girl.Mark frowned, moving to like ten states away just for a race didn't seem like a good reason to move.Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by a squeaking door.Mark looked up and saw his Mel.She had told him to come over after school, one last time.Melanie smiled at him and brushed away a strand of her dark brown hair. She walked down the stepped to him and looked up at Mark.Mel was 5' and Mark 5'6 so he was a little taller.Mark embraced her as Melanie started crying. The boy gently took her hand and squeezed it.He led her up the stairs and they sat on the porch swing.Melanie breathed in then brought her hands to the back of her neck and undid her necklace. She held out her hand and spoke softly."I want you to have it Mark.I'll never leave you,we'll always be together."With that she hugged him then ran inside.Mark sat there on the porch swing confused. He looked down at his hand and saw the little silver heart locket Mel had given him.

Mark didn't go to school for a week he was so upset. The year flew by and he finally got a phone call.
The boy watched the necklace fall to the ground.tears fell down his cheeks as it landed and the heart opened. He instantly fell to the ground and carefully picked it up.He closed the heart and held it tight. It was all he had left of her.His dear love, she had left, left without him.She had had given him the necklace as a farewell present. It had been a year and now here he stood with it in his hands. He had just gotten a call from the girls mother. His love was..gone...forever...cancer had taken his best friend, the only one that understood him, loved him.The boy wept silently thinking of her and their days together."I'll never leave you,we'll always be together."Those were her last words to him..now he'd never hear her voice again...
ooc-My hand hurts but theres lots more.
